What does the ideal campus of the future look like?
In September 2024, Deutsches Studierendenwerk (DSW) is launching its 39th poster competition with the theme "Campus of the future?". Students of graphic design, communication design and visual communication are invited to develop their creative interpretations and visionary answers to the question: What does the ideal campus of the future look like?
What should the ideal campus of the future look like and what elements should it contain to create an optimal learning environment for students? What role will digitalisation and AI play in the campus of the future? What social and cultural aspects are important for a sustainable campus? What sustainable principles and environmental aspects should be taken into account when developing a modern campus? What expectations do students have of the physical infrastructure of the future campus, for example in terms of lecture theatres, laboratories, libraries, canteens, halls of residence - or transport links? What role will students themselves play on the campus of the future?
Students of the above-mentioned subjects who are enrolled at a state or state-recognised university in Germany in the winter semester 2024/2025 can register for the competition from 12 September 2024 until 10 November 2024. Degree programmes closely related to the above-mentioned subjects with a focus on graphic design/print media design or similar may also be admitted to the competition after examination of the study regulations.
Every eligible student who has registered for the competition by 10 November 2024 can submit a maximum of three poster designs to the competition online from mid-November until 12 January 2025. We will send out a link to upload the poster files after the registration deadline. A jury of six experts will review the posters digitally in February/March and select the best poster designs for the shortlist. The jury will select the posters anonymously, without reference to the designer and/or university. These posters will be printed in the original high quality and presented to the jury at the jury meeting in Berlin in April 2025. The jury will award a total of 10,000 euros in prize money. The award ceremony will take place on 30 June 2025 at the renowned Museum für Kommunikation Berlin.
