Payment with girocard, credit card and mobile payment

We accept all common cashless payment methods at our checkout terminals - including contactless. These include credit cards, girocards, mobile payment apps such as ApplePay or GooglePay.

Paying with the Bluecode app

Bluecode is the mobile payment solution that combines contactless payment via smartphone with digital value-added services. This allows customers to make mobile payments and at the same time secure exclusive benefits through digital stamp passes, vouchers, competitions and promotions. The Studierendenwerk Dortmund uses Bluecode in almost all locations and cafeterias. In principle, the app can be used to pay at over 20,000 acceptance points, mainly in Austria and Germany - in shops, at vending machines or online.

  1. Downloadthe app onto your smartphone.
  2. Connect the account to the app. If available: Scan the voucher (QR code).
  3. Pay with the app at the canteen checkout.

Is my data secure?
Bluecode is designed in such a way that no data can be misused or otherwise passed on (e.g. for advertising purposes). For these reasons, Bluecode is a highly secure payment method:

  • No confidential data is transmitted in the payment circuit.
  • Neither personal data nor other information that allows a conclusion to be drawn about the user's account is stored on the smartphone.
  • A new Bluecode is created for each individual payment.
  • Each Bluecode can only be used once.
  • More information on secure payment via Bluecode.

What does it cost to use Bluecode?
Bluecode is free of charge for end customers.

What will cashless payment cost me in the Studierendenwerk?

What does contactless payment actually mean?

Near Field Communication (NFC) now makes it possible to pay with your girocard, credit card or even smartphone without the hassle of counting money or entering a PIN. All you have to do is hold your smartphone or card up to the terminal provided.

Is it recorded what I eat and with whom?

A very clear no! The Studierendenwerk's cash register system only receives information from the payment terminal that the payment was successful. The payment terminal itself only receives information from us about how much has to be paid. This applies to all payments with girocard (contactless), credit card (contactless), Bluecode, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
