Reusable to go - our offers

We serve several thousand guests a day in our 18 refectories and cafeterias. The amount of disposable packaging handed out is correspondingly high. Although these are selected according to sustainability aspects - many components are compostable - it is difficult if not impossible to separate and dispose of the individual components by type. The best solution in terms of sustainability is therefore to avoid waste.

We are certain that we can only solve the problem of "disposable waste on campus" if we completely stop issuing disposable packaging. We depend on the help of our guests to do this: Please get ready for the introduction of the new reusable-to-go system and register in the Relevo app on Google Play or in the App Store or grab your own reusable dishes. It's easy to help the environment!

The Relevo reusable-to-go system is easy to explain:

1. download the app
The first and most important step of all: download the Relevo app on your smartphone via Google Play or the App Store and register once as a user. Registration is necessary because it is the only way the system can recognise that you are participating in the system and which returnable containers you have borrowed. Only the personal data that is absolutely necessary for the use of the reusable system is collected. You can find more information on data protection at stwdo.de/datenschutz.

2. order
Have your food served in the free Relevo reusable dishes in the refectory. There are no additional costs for you; neither do you have to pay a deposit for the reusable dishes! All you have to do is pay the price of the meal at the checkout.

3. scan the QR code
Scan the QR code printed on your reusable dishes and show your mobile phone with the scan confirmation at the checkout. Then enjoy your meal when and where you like. The bowl comes with a lockable lid. It is dishwasher safe and microwaveable.

4. return dishes
Bring the dishes back to us - if possible immediately after use - and scan the QR code at the return station. You will find the stations in the respective facility. Dishes that are not returned within the 14-day period will be charged 10 euros per bowl.

Using the reusable-to-go system is completely free of charge for you. All you need to do is download the Relevo app on your smartphone from Google Play or the App Store and register in it, as you will need to scan the reusable dishes in the app when serving food.

Important: You can use the Relevo reusable dishes for free within 14 days. You will be reminded of the return deadline several times in the app and by email during these two weeks. After that, Relevo charges 10 euros for a bowl that is not returned on time, because if it is not returned, the dishes are considered purchased. This is to enable a constant cycle: After all, the bowls should not pile up in the office or at home, because then they are missing again in the serving area in the canteen or cafeteria.

If Relevo's app is not an option for you, or the app does not work technically, there are the following alternatives:

• You buy the bowl at the facility and pay for it once for 10 euros. Please indicate this right away when you buy the food, as the colour of the purchased bowls differs from the bowls from the reusable system.
• You use your own reusable dishes.

In exceptional cases, we reserve the right to hand out a small number of disposable containers for an environmental fee of 1 euro per packaging unit. This procedure only takes effect if there really is no other more environmentally friendly alternative.

Yes. A sale of Relevo Bowls with lids for 10 euros is planned in our refectories and cafeterias. The bowls and lids for sale are different in colour from the containers that do not participate in the reusable cycle and do not have a QR code. This also makes it obvious to us that you are using your own reusable tableware that is not part of the reusable-to-go system.

The reusable tableware used comes from the manufacturer Ornamin from Westphalia, the products are accordingly 100% made in Germany and are subject to continuous control. The products are:

• Light, break-proof, scratch-proof and durable.
• Slosh-proof sealable
• Dishwasher safe
• Microwaveable (max. 2 minutes at max. 600 watts)
• Freezer safe (up to -25°C)
• Food-safe & free of harmful substances (without dangerous plasticisers)
• Made of quality plastic (BPA-free)
• Tasteless & odourless
• Space-saving storage - stackable
• 100% recyclable (recyclable again)

In the Relevo app, you need to provide a few personal details that are mandatory for using the returnable system: First and last name, email address and postal address. The Studierendenwerk Dortmund itself does not collect any personal data. Nor do we have access to the data processed through the reservation process in the app. This is entirely the responsibility of the company Relevo. It is important for our system that you return the bowls promptly after use and thus return them to the cycle. Apart from that, you can use the Relevo reusable dishes free of charge for 14 days. After that, Relevo will charge you for a bowl not returned on time for 10 euros, because if it is not returned, the dishes are considered purchased. This is to enable a constant cycle.

Relevo reusable tableware is robust. Scratch marks should be minimal to non-existent with normal use. You can therefore return the bowls to the reusable cycle and do not need to buy the tableware. However, if there are clearly visible signs of use after several uses, we will replace the dishes after they have been returned. The used tableware can then be shredded and made into new bowls. The material is fully recyclable.

Please remove food leftovers as best you can. We always clean all containers and return them hygienically and cleanly to the reusable cycle.
