1. Kita im Grünen gets new telephone numbers

    From Tuesday, 3 December 2024, the doorbell system in our Kita im Grünen will be replaced. The telephones will also be connected to the Studierendenwerk telephone system, as a result of which all telephone numbers in the centre will change. The central telephone number will then be 0231/20649-0 with immediate effect.

    Orange Day 2025: Our canteens are part of it!

    Studierendenwerk and other organisations are sending out a visible signal against violence against women with a large-scale sandwich bag campaign. More than 150,000 orange sandwich bags will be handed out in the city from 25 November - the International Day against Violence against Women - under the slogan "Gewalt kommt uns nicht in die Tüte!".

  4. Canteen opened for the open day

    TU Dortmund University hosted an open day on Saturday (9 November) and many visitors came - also to take a look behind the scenes of the main canteen. The Studierendenwerk offered five guided tours over the course of the day to experience the largest canteen on campus from a completely different perspective.

    Who will be "Student of the Year 2025"? The German University Association (DHV) and the German Student Union (DSW) are organising the tenth award for student commitment. The prize money is 5,000 euros and the closing date for entries is 31 December 2024.

  8. Main canteen: Peta presents award for vegan-friendly canteen

    PETA Deutschland e.V. has once again awarded the main canteen of the Studierendenwerk Dortmund with three stars, recognising it as one of the most vegan-friendly canteens in Germany. This award honours not only the wide range of vegan dishes on offer, but also the canteen's commitment to an animal-free and healthy diet within university catering.

    Study start-up aid: Applications from 2 September

    From the coming winter semester, students from low-income households can receive a one-off study start-up grant of 1,000 euros. The online application can be submitted from 2 September at the earliest. Applications can only be submitted via bafoeg-digital.de.

  13. We are celebrating 25 years of our daycare centre

    It's all set: With a clown, bouncy castle, ice cream van, fire brigade, dance groups and a participatory gospel choir, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of our daycare centre "Kita im Grünen" on Saturday (8 June)! All children, parents and friends of the daycare centre are cordially invited to visit the facility "Am Gardenkamp 47" and join in the celebrations. The party starts at 10 am and ends at 4 pm.

  14. New portal for student housing

    More service and more communication: From 11 June 2024, we will be introducing the new rental portal "WohnenStwdo" in the area of student housing. This means that the 2,800 students who have rented a room in the Studierendenwerk's halls of residence can now access all data relating to their tenancy anywhere and at any time. WohnenStwDo is also intended to be an important communication channel when it comes to exchanging information or publicising dates and events relating to living together in the Studierendenwerk's 14 halls of residence.
