Change in the management of the Studierendenwerk
The management of Studierendenwerk Dortmund changed on 31.07.2023. Thomas Schlootz, who has worked for the company as managing director since September 2018, is leaving at the end of his contract of employment. Johannes Zedel will take over as his successor on an interim basis. Meanwhile, a new management is being sought - for the first time there will be a dual leadership.
During a farewell ceremony, Johannes Zedel paid tribute to his predecessor Thomas Schlootz: "With you, a real institution is leaving the Studierendenwerk after more than 12 years. First as commercial director and later as managing director, you were able to realise many important projects. The intensive period of the Corona pandemic also falls within your term of office. You have always mastered all challenges with great commitment to the students and always had an open ear for the employees. So we thank you very much and wish you continued success and all the best for the further course of your life!"
New management sought
Meanwhile, the application process is underway to fill the new management position. For the first time in the company's 50-year history, a management duo will take over the management of the Studierendenwerk: a "Commercial Management" and a "Social Management". The commercial areas will cover the "General Administration" as well as the departments of university catering and building management along with student housing. The Social Management will be responsible for the departments of Student Financing, Human Resources, Communications, Social Affairs and Culture.
Johannes Zedel temporary managing director
Until the new management positions are filled, Johannes Zedel will manage the business on an interim basis. Johannes Zedel has been responsible for Communications, Culture, Social Affairs since April 2019. In January 2022, he also became Deputy Managing Director.
