New portal for student housing

More service and more communication: From 11 June 2024, we will be introducing the new rental portal "WohnenStwdo" in the area of student housing. This means that the 2,800 students who have rented a room in the Studierendenwerk's halls of residence can now access all data relating to their tenancy anywhere and at any time. WohnenStwDo is also intended to be an important communication channel when it comes to exchanging information or publicising dates and events relating to living together in the Studierendenwerk's 14 halls of residence.

App or web? Both options are available

The portal can be accessed after personal login either via the web browser or via the apps in the Apple App Store or in the Google Play Store, which can already be found in the Apple Store under the name "Wohnen StwDo" and will soon also be available for Android users. All existing tenants will receive an email with a personal registration code in the next few days. New tenants will be referred to the portal as part of the contract signing process.

Competition at the start

For existing tenants: it pays to be quick! The Studierendenwerk is giving away five cinema vouchers from the TU Dortmund University Film Club among the first 500 registrations. One voucher entitles you to admission to five film screenings.

All documents always at your fingertips

The biggest advantage of the portal for students is that the Service Centre for Student Housing is always available, regardless of regular business and telephone hours. Registered users now have access to all personal contract documents 365 days a year and 24 hours a day. These include, for example, the tenancy agreement, the house rules and the landlord's confirmation of residence. The portal can also be used to report damage with subsequent appointment coordination, as well as to process correspondence or independently manage personal data such as bank details or upload enrolment certificates.

Important communication channel

In future, however, the portal's news feed will not only contain news relating to the tenancy. Instead, tenants will be provided with information that is important for living together in the residential complex. Above all, this includes the services offered by the Studierendenwerk and its numerous departments, which play a major role in residents' everyday lives: Culture, social affairs, psychological counselling, student finance and catering.

More service, also with a digital signature

With the launch of WohnenStwDo, Studierendenwerk is taking another important step towards digitalisation. This also includes the installation of an electronic signature, which can be used to sign and cancel a tenancy agreement in future.

Another milestone was the change in the application process, which was accompanied by the introduction of new software a few weeks ago. Since then, the Studierendenwerk has been offering available rooms directly on the website. Students can now apply directly to an advert, as is already the case with all standard letting portals. With this change, the list of applicants has been discontinued once and for all. The advantage: students receive immediate feedback as to whether there is an offer and whether they have been selected from the small group of candidates.

Modern administration

Nicole Langanki, Head of Student Housing at Studierendenwerk Dortmund, looks to the future: "With the new CRM portal, we are offering our tenants a platform that allows them to access and manage everything that is important via their smartphone, regardless of time and place. WohnenStwDo is therefore a great service and communication tool for students, and for us it is another huge step towards modern administration."
