We are celebrating 25 years of our daycare centre
It's all set: With a clown, bouncy castle, ice cream van, fire brigade, dance groups and a participatory gospel choir, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of our daycare centre "Kita im Grünen" on Saturday (8 June)! All children, parents and friends of the daycare centre are cordially invited to visit the facility "Am Gardenkamp 47" and join in the celebrations. The party starts at 10 am and ends at 4 pm.
For children on campus for 25 years
In 1999, the centre was opened under the name "Kita vier Jahreszeiten" (Four Seasons Daycare Centre) under the auspices of the Studierendenwerk. Then, as now, the aim was to support the reconciliation of studies and family life. The new centre was quickly accepted. Students, but also university staff and parents from the neighbouring districts chose the Studierendenwerk's daycare centre to look after their children in the early years.
Space for 120 children
A lack of daycare places in the city and a growing number of students with children led to the decision to expand the centre in 2015. In March 2017, the extensive construction work was completed and the current main building with its spacious entrance area and new group and administration rooms was ready to move into. The number of places doubled from 60 to 120, creating one of the largest daycare centres in Dortmund. A new name was also introduced to emphasise the special nature of the facility: Kita im Grünen. This name was chosen because there is a spectacular outdoor area behind the building with its 4,000 m2 of grounds, which is unrivalled with its old trees and numerous play equipment.
Use the car park at Mensa Süd!
Of course, this outdoor area, as well as the entire facility, can be visited by guests as part of the anniversary celebrations on Saturday. Dominik Struck, educational director of the centre since 2023, and his entire team would like to welcome you!
Important for the visit: There will not be enough parking spaces in front of the daycare centre. All guests are therefore requested to drive to the TU Dortmund University car park in front of Mensa Süd (August-Schmidt-Straße) and use the short route via the pedestrian crossing on Stockumer Straße, thank you!
