From January: Archeteria opens longer in the afternoon

The Archeteria is starting the new year with new opening hours. From Monday to Friday, it will be open one hour longer on South Campus. This means that all students and staff can get drinks, snacks and hot food until 5 p.m. and until 3.30 p.m. on Fridays.

The changed times will apply as part of a test phase until 18 July. ‘We will take a close look at whether the extended opening hours pay off for us,’ says Johannes Zedel, Managing Director of the Studierendenwerk and Burkhard Schwemin, Commercial Director, adds: ’We are operating in challenging times when subsidies are decreasing more and more. We therefore have to think carefully about where and to what extent we deploy our resources.’

The Archeteria with the ‘Mensa Süd’ above it was the first canteen of the Studierendenwerk Dortmund in 1969. Then as now, the building was used to cater for students and staff at TU Dortmund University's main campus.

In addition to sandwiches, snacks and drinks, the Archeteria offers a wide range of meals, including a selection of wok dishes.
