Main canteen: Peta presents award for vegan-friendly canteen

PETA Deutschland e.V. has once again awarded the main canteen of the Studierendenwerk Dortmund with three stars, recognising it as one of the most vegan-friendly canteens in Germany. This award honours not only the wide range of vegan dishes on offer, but also the canteen's commitment to an animal-free and healthy diet within university catering.

PETA emphasises that the main canteen offers students and guests the opportunity to eat healthily and sustainably outside the building. The award makes it clear that aspects such as nutritional physiology, ecological compatibility, social justice and animal welfare are compatible in university catering. The main canteen offers a daily selection of vegan dishes, including pasta, curries and stews, which are prepared by specially trained staff.

A new addition to the menu is the climate plate, which includes dishes with 50 per cent fewer emissions. This initiative shows that the main canteen not only caters to the needs of students, but also actively contributes to reducing its environmental impact. By awarding three stars, PETA recognises the commitment of the main canteen and thanks it for its contribution to promoting compassion and ethics in society.
