A healthy start to the new year! The Studierendenwerk canteens are kicking off the 2025 campaign year with Veganuary. Vegan products will increasingly feature on the menus in the first four weeks. Guests in the main canteen can also help themselves to a buffet every day, which will mainly feature dishes made with plant-based meat from the company Happy Meat.
Happy Meat is a plant-based protein supplier that can be used in a variety of ways. In November, the company from Steinheim in Westphalia presented its products to those responsible for the canteen - now the customers of the main canteen have the opportunity to experience and taste the versatility on the plate live at the buffet.
‘Happy Meat impressed us from the first contact to the trial meal in our kitchen. We are now looking forward to seeing how our guests respond,’ says Ulrike Berenbeck, Deputy Head of University Catering.
The following dishes, among others, are planned for the promotional buffet: Pea protein patty on sweet potato mash with savoy cabbage vegetables, falafel burger with mango mayo or chips special with fried onions.
